IDEALKENT Journal of Urban Studies is the one that follows diciplinary and interdiciplinary approaches to the city. In the analysis of cities, besides the main diciplines of urban studies like architecture, city planning and local administration, IDEALKENT accepts all scientific paths focusing on urban issues such as history, sociology, local politics, anthropology, art history, archeology, cultural studiesand geography. The original theoretical and emprical studies produced in this scope are published, and the journal is open to all studies in social and human sciences.
As an academic and peer-reviewed journal, after its inception in 2010, IDEALKENT decided to adopt an open journal policy in 2018. Due to the diffuculty in access to printed copies, the journal sees open journal policy as its responsibility to the readers. In a globalized world it is the fact that transfer of knowledge with printed copies is quite difficult. To make easier transfer of knowledge and to contribute ideal city utopia where the problems of our cities are growing as snowball, the journal has been opened to the readers. In this context, all printed issues (out of 11th issue) have been transferred to the internet.
IDEALKENT gave importance to be open to anybody who would like to contribute to the scope until today. And it will continue to behave sensitive about this point. The journal aims to make peer-review process more qualified and more transparent by adopting field editorship. And IDEALKENT has been screened by ULAKBIM TR Index since 2016.
Up to the present, the journal published three times a year in January, May and September, and a feature topic is comprehensively elaborated in each issue. As of 2018, IDEALKENT is published in April, August and December, and it recieves manuscripts out of specified feature topic.
IDEALKENT adopts ‘Double-Blind Review’ approach. Previously, the review process was conducted via the mails by the editorial board. Since 2018, this process has been managed via the online system on DergiPark. By this way, the author(s) can follow progress of the manuscript. The journal accepts either Turkish or English studies. To enhance interaction of science, we expect to recieve extended abstracts in English for Turkish manuscripts between 900-1000 words.
